We proudly announce that the first polish conference with the participation of so many respectable speakers, has been finished with a great success! We want to thank all the sponsors, participants, speakers and guest for their input into creating great atmosphere during the CONFidence 2007 conference. Amazing lectures, finest participants and a bit of Cracow’s charm and uniqueness contributed to the excellent outcome of the conference.
The event started with a slight delay caused by problems with registration, that we sincerely apologise for. As soon as the extraordinary ?dog tags? were handled, the conference started and was continued without any bigger problems. Both, polish and foreign guests’ presentations were equally absorbing. During the first day the lectures that met with the most applause were: Dinis Cruz’s (amazing .NET exploits), Raoul Chiesa’s (unforgettable X.25 protocol) and Alexander Kornbrust’s about hacking Oracle databases. The speaker You liked the most was Flak & Pajak team and their presentation about phishing. Paul Pokrywka’s lecture about localization of hosts in LAN, was also noticed by our participants. All lectures caused heated discussions that could be heard long after the presentations ended.
In the evening, both, speakers and participants engaged in the entertaining and relaxing part of the conference ? getting to know all Cracow pubs, bars and restaurants and its amazing night life. We talked a lot, speakers showed their musical skills (excellent Dinis Cruz’s drums concert!) - we had fun ’till the first ray of morning light.
In spite of all the night clubbing, the second part of conference started on time, at 9 a.m. Along with the lectures, following contest were held:
safe net configuration based on Cisco solutions ? sponsored by Cisco Poland, that founded XBOX console. Competition was prepared and conducted by George Wrobel and Lukas Bromirski.
The first in Poland ?Capture the Flag? - the contestants’ task was to hack the server. Contest was prepared and conducted by Jaroslaw Sajko and the prize was sponsored by Helion Publishing House and PROIDEA Foundation.
In both contests, the competition was fierce and it was extremely hard to determine who would win. Lucky winners went home with great prizes and those a bit less successful will have a chance to show off next year.
The second day was fruitful as well. Richard Bejtlich’s presentation made a great impression, as well as the lecture of Wojciech Swiatak’s from Motora, who presented some interesting insights into corporative attitudes towards security. Lukas Bromirski, as usual, impressed us with high quality of his lecture concerning security issues in our networks.
All audio materials from the conference will be available for visitors of this web page from 10th August. Conference participants will be given access to the additional video materials before all the others.
We also thank You for filling the questionnaire! We are analyzing all your comments and opinions to make the CONFidence 2008 conference even better. We are sure that our experiences and your suggestions will help us to improve registration process and avoid all the problems with organization. We have already started preparations for the next edition of our conference, that we kindly invite you for.
See you at the CONFidence 2008!
From now on YOU create CONFidence
We have just started our forum. We hope you will join discussion about conference issues. We will talk about agenda, trainings, things related to travel and nights’ rests. We will hear and consider all your suggestions and ideas.
For active participants we have prepared a few gadgets (t-shirts, mugs and so on). Winners will be selected via lotterydrawing during the conference.
CONFidence is an exceptional community, a great step forward, an innovation. CONFidence is not just another conference. Tell your friends about CONFidence, set their choice free. Give them a possibility not to take part in conferences manipulated by huge companies and their marketing plans, plugs, non interesting lectures made with little expense.
CONFidence IS NOT a conference
So, you may ask, what is it then? That is easy: initiative, social movement, a group of people involved in creating secure IT solutions. Moreover during the conference inauguration of the first Polish OWASP chapter will take place. Our cooperation starts now, we offer discount for OWASP’s members and give price at the level of $85!
Babel-CONFidence aka simultaneous translations
CONFidence’s attendees are now sure they will receive all of the presented information. Speaks will be translated simultaneously. Languages other than Polish would be translated live to Polish (half of conference will be in English). Audience will be equipped with headphones. ?As always we await your suggestions. We assure you we will provide other translations if group of listeners is numerous enough? says Andrzej Targosz, CEO of Proidea ? organizer of conference.
